Oops, you’ve caught me at my favourite pastime… munchin’ I’m Ozzie and I am a retired member of staff here at the Thornton Rose Rider Ability Group. Well, I say retired but I sometimes help the group out if there’s extra hay to be eaten or any of the students want to give a cuddle to a nice friendly horse.
I don’t like telling anybody my age but I’ll whisper it… 27 years old. And, I don’t feel a day over…. …Read more…

Hi darlings, I am Misty the Mysterious and I have been working here at TR for 6 years. I am really laid back, almost horizontal… especially after a couple of walks out with the students. I like nothing better than getting my pyjamas on and having a snooze in the barn. There is a special wee corner in the barn just for me as it can get a bit nippy outside in Scotland.
I’m only wee at 14.1hh but I have …Read more…

Wey hey… it’s me Ringo and I’m your man! I’m a bit of a lad but I am proud to be a member of staff here at Thornton Rose. When I am not chasing the ladies, especially my wee sweetheart Katie-Morag, I can be found with some of my riders out on a trek. I’ll take all different sorts of students, those that are just starting or those that have been with us for quite a while.
Do you like my …Read more…

Following their miraculous escape from the Norfolk Health farm on the very day of their session on the ‘sun beds’ the chooky girls escaped north in a goods train. Word has it that they have now settled in a free range chicken farm somewhere in Scotland. Having dyed their tail feathers and learned a few local sayings, Nessie, Jessie and Bessie are now living the life of luxury.
With a tear in her eye Jessie says, “We miss all the boys …Read more…

I am one of the staff at Thornton Rose and even if I say so myself, I am a bit of a looker. Calm and contented most of the time, I offer rides to lots of students. I hope you like the photo of me in the field here at Thornton Rose which shows off my new hairdo. Can you see the tint in my fringe? Dark Henna, just a DIY kit you know but nice just the same.
For those …Read more…

Snow can come at any time in Scotland. In fact they say that there is not a minute of the day when we don’t experience some sleet, snow or below freezing temperatures in some part of our country. This year we had very heavy snow and we were cut off from the village for several days.
There wasn’t much grass around either and we had to rely on our volunteers walking in to the stables and fetching us some hay. Here you …Read more…

It’s been a while since we had an updated from the Chooky girls and lots of our readers have been getting in touch concerned for their safety. Here are the facts as we know them….
In early July, having suffered from the usual winter blues, the girls caught sight of a brochure containing the advert for a Health farm down in Norfolk.

The location looked superb and the the girls were looking for a bit of TLC so off they went.

Hi, it’s me, Mary and I am one of the staff here at Thornton Rose. Although I am just a little bit older than the boss, I think that I am not showing my age as much as him. I’m just 15 years old which in horsey terms is just fine and not too tall either. Just 13.2hh, I can get through the woods really easily although I need to remind myself that I have one of the students on …Read more…
